It is easy to fill our makeup bags with lots of different products, but before you head out into the great, wild world, here are the four basic beauty products that pay to tote around with you.

1. Concealer

Skip the foundation and just use concealer. Concealer can cover up any blemishes, discoloration, or brighten up your undereyes. It’s easy to apply and it is a great lightweight summer alternative. If you find it hard to match your skintone, try something like the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit (featured as product #1 in the photo below). It is a dual palette so you can mix the tones for your perfect shade. The other three products from Hourglass, Shiseido and Clinique are a few more great summer concealer choices.

2. Colour

3. Lip balm

Everyone gets dry lips, so a moisturizing lip balm is a must. It will condition your lips to keep them soft and hydrated all day long. It’s also great for massaging into your cuticles and dabbing on dry patches of skin if you’re in a pinch. I’ve been carrying around my Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment; it’s moisturizing and smells amazing. 4. Mascara

A quick flick of mascara is the quickest way to define your eyes and make them appear brighter.
