Kate’s Top 3 Underrated Beauty Tools

Between $24 eyelash curlers and $40 makeup brushes, a girl could really use a cheap, multi-tasking makeup tool every once and a while! Below are some of my favourite beauty tools that you probably already have kicking around in your bathroom.

1) The Q-Tip: Cotton swabs are very versatile. Use them as a clean up or touch up tool (smudged makeup under the lower lash line, feathering lipstick), in creating a smoky eye (they smudge eyeliner wonderfully), and in adding a pretty inner-corner highlight to your eyes.

2) The Cotton Round: Did you go a little heavy on your blush/bronzer application? Press a cotton round over the area in a rolling motion to remove any excess product without smudging or wiping off your makeup. You can also keep a few in your purse to act as blotting agents when you’re on-the-go.

3) The Business Card: Yes, you read that correctly. Press a business card flat from the outer corner of your eye to the outer edge of your eyebrow to outline the base of your eye’s outer v. This can act as a stencil when creating more dramatic eye looks and will prevent eyeshadow from extending beyond the eye area. When applying mascara, you can also hold a business card at the base of your top lashes to prevent mascara from ending up on your eyelid. This will also enable you to really work the mascara wand into your lashes.
