Spring Hair Trends
Long Hair

Create two low braids on the sides of your head and then find them around your face or behind your head and secure in place.
Medium Length Hair
This works out well if you already have the LOB (long bob!) or just growing out the bob and lob. For straight hair, use a 1/2” curling iron to curl 1 inch sections into waves. For those with natural curls use a curl enhancing product and blow dry using a diffuser to separate luscious curls.
Short Hair
The micro bang is back! This kind of style is best for those with dark hair and regardless of face shape! Believe it or not this is a trend seen on the John Galliano Spring/Summer 2012 Fashion Show.
Weird Beauty Treatments
Solid Gold Treatments

In parts of the United States and Asia, there is a growing trend in 24 karat GOLD beauty masks. The reason for this treatment is that it is believed ‘karats’ can ward off cellulite and prevent early aging.
Snake Venom Cream

You shouldn’t really be applying ordinary snake venom directly to your skin. It is noted that applying it in a cream where venom is referred to as an active ingredient provides the same benefit as botox.
Fish Pedicures

Are you looking for softer, smoother feet? Why not try a Fish Pedicure? This treatment involved setting your feet in a tank of hungry fish called: Garra rufa fish and their job is to gently dissolve the dead skin cells, leaving you with softer skin.
Urine Therapy

A little history about this treatment, did you know this was used as an alternative treatment to daily ailments by the Greeks and Romans. This was also used to whiten teeth back in the day. Scientists say that ingesting your own urine may have anticarcinogenic properties which may ward off wrinkles and cancer.

How to cover up dark eye circles!

So we all wake up in the morning with dark, puffy eyes. We usually try to use as much concealer as we can but by midday it already came off! Not fun! Here are some tips to help banish the darkness! (tehe)
1. Using topical creams
Dr Frederic Brandt (celebrity dermatologist and author) suggests using a cream fortified with Retinol, Peptides, Caffeine, Green Tea or Aloe to A) help boost collagen production, B) Constric Blood Vessels and C) to bring the inflammatory down.
2. Concealer
One thing Clarins celebrity beauty artist Pati Dubroff says about dark eye circles is to not use a heavy cream like concealer and instead “first swipe some foundation to how much of the job it takes care of” then using a concealer “in a tone a bit lighter than your skin color, in a brush form that is targeted for brightening the under eye area.” If this trick doesn’t help only resort to a thicker concealer on the orbital bone (area just under the eye socket to your cheekbone).
3. Lipstick
When in doubt contrast the darkness with a bold lip colour.

3 Makeup Tips from Make Up For Ever

1. Colour trend forecasting for Spring/Summer 2012 calls for the dramatic colour tangerine being the ‘it’ makeup look. How would you recommend incorporating such a bold colour into your makeup routine?

If you are weary or intimidated at wearing such a bold colour you can do so by using a easier shade such as coral. Coral is still in the same colour family and will have you up to date with this colour trend but it less intense and more universally flattering because it works with all skin tones. If you were still looking to go bold by using a tangerine colour in your makeup routine, try it as a blush on the apples of your cheeks for a vibrant pop of colour. By using Makeup For Ever Aqua Cream #10 (tangerine), you can use this multi-tasking product as a eye colour and as a lipstick and it will work on everyone’s skin tone as it will provide a soft shimmer with just a hint of the tangerine colour.
2. Everyone loves the look of Lash Extensions, but not necessarily the cost or the maintenance associated with them. How would you recommend achieving the look of false lashes?

By using individual false lashes, you can achieve this look with ease and without damaging your lashes (a negative effect of extensions). Individuals look more natural then strip lashes and are quite simple to apply. Additional tips from the Humber College school of Cosmetic Management program include: “Simply hold each cluster with a tweezers and dip into the glue. Wait 20 seconds for the glue to become slightly tacky and apply as close to the lash line as possible. Press down gently with your tweezers once the lash has been placed to tightly secure it to your lash line. It is best to apply one or two at the end of your lash line (outer corner) to open up your eye and work your way inward.“ If you are looking for a more dramatic lash look, using strip lashes can make your eyes look bold and beautiful. The key to strip lashes is to take your time Melissa stresses. Sit down at a mirror and get comfortable. Make sure you cut the lashes to your eye length beforehand. Hold the lashes with tweezers, apply a thin layer of glue, letting it dry slightly and press down the inner and outer ends of the strip first. Hold for a minute then hold down the middle. Melissa also advises to look at false lashes (strip or individual) as a ‘final accessory in your overall makeup routine’. Have your eye makeup completely finished before you apply the lashes. By having your mascara already applied before the lashes allows you to reuse the strip lashes multiple times.
3. What are some tips/tricks for making our makeup sweat proof this summer and not settle into pores?

We have all heard to use a primer to prep the skin before applying makeup to achieve a flawless application, but the trick is to fight a primer that is right for your skin type. Makeup for Ever has a great range of primers that are designed for specific skin types. Primer is a crucial step to prep the skin so that the makeup doesn’t sweat off or settle into pores. Another amazing product in their line is the Mist and Fix which as Melissa puts it, “Mist and Fix is like hairspray for your face but it doesn’t clog your pores.” You can use this product in multiple ways and will make a great tool in your makeup bag. Use Mist and Fix as a layering tool for your makeup routine to ensure long lasting results. After applying primer, spray Mist and Fix on the skin then apply your foundation/concealer. Spray again, then apply your powder and spray again. When you are all done (eye makeup included), spray one last time to set the look for long lasting results. Throw Mist and Fix into your bag for touch ups to refresh and set your makeup when you are out enjoying those long, hot summer nights.
Make Up For Ever Sens’Eyes

As a girl who wears makeup on a regular basis, one of my least favorite things to do is remove my mascara. Finding an eye makeup remover that actually does what it claims to do is quite a challenge. I tend to wake up with black smudges under my eyes and mascara on my pillow even though I’ve removed my makeup and cleansed my face the night before. When I was given a sample bottle of Sens’Eyes I didn’t really expect it to be any different from the many other brands I have tried over the years. Little did I know that I would find what I think has become my go to eye makeup remover.
Make Up For Ever’s Sens’Eyes is a an oil free, waterproof eye makeup remover for sensitive eyes. Make Up Forever claims it instantly removes impurities and waterproof makeup and I can say that it lives up to its claims. All you need to do is put some of the product onto a cotton pad and hold it onto your eye area for a few seconds and then wipe. There is no need to rub away at your eye, because Sens’Eyes does an incredible job of breaking down the mascara making it easy to wipe away. For the first time in years I am now sleeping mascara free!
